The Recent Trend in Clinical Laboratory Information System

Abstract

|
It is the trend that domestic laboratories have been started to introduce computerizations into their information systems. Although many laboratories managed to bring them in, most of the computierizations were largely duplicates of other laboratories with no initiation by qualified experts and hot enough time for the trial operations. Therefore, the systems found to become soon obsolete ones and waste of considerable time and money in vain. To investigate the laboratory situations in computerizition, we surveyed 86 hospitals with over two hundred beds. As a result, we found that most of the domestic hospital laboratories are still under the inappropriate conditions or environments to set up the computerization systems. Moreover, lots of structural problems hindered improvement of the systems. It is recommended that the renovation of the systems should be based on sufficient trial and error experiment.
